Lower Picture taken in 1988 shows the Wurlitzer in
the Gaumont Dingle Cinema.
The Wurlitzer, Opus 1664,which arrived in England on
the 30th July 1927 was first installed in the Trocadero Theatre, Liverpool, in
1927. Ten years later in 1938 it was reinstalled in the Gaumont Dingle Theatre
Liverpool.
The Wurlitzer was the 13th to arrive in the Country,
but is at present the 6th oldest surviving Wurlitzer remaining of that first
group.
This Project was part funded by a Heritage Lottery
Grant which has enabled us to create A Theatre Organ Heritage Centre and the
Worlds first Museum dedicated to the work of Robert Hope-Jones in creating the
foundations of the Theatre Organ.
